For the second consecutive week, Mt. San Antonio College’s women’s soccer team received the most first-place votes in the California Community College Sports Information Association women’s soccer poll.
And for the second consecutive week, the Mounties are No. 2 in said poll.
Chaffey College vaulted Mt. SAC to take the top spot in the polling conducted by sports information professionals this week. The Panthers received three of the 10 first-place votes cast, earning 187 points in the voting. Mt. SAC had six first-place votes, but only 179 points to remain in the second spot.
The Panthers are only one of three teams remaining without a loss. They will face back-to-back tests in Inland Empire Athletic Conference play over their next two games, as they host No. 19 Mt. San Jacinto on Friday, then travel to play a resurgent San Bernardino Valley, which has won four in a row, Tuesday.
San Joaquin Delta holds down the No. 3 spot with 165 points, having received the other first-place vote. It holds a slight advantage over a pair of Orange Empire Conference teams, as Orange Coast remained steady at No. 4 with 157 points, while Santiago Canyon moved up two spots to No. 5 with 149 points, placing that will likely change after the Hawks beat the Pirates 4-0 on Tuesday.
The other two undefeated teams, Reedley (147 points) and Folsom Lake (132 points), hold down the No. 6 and No. 8 spots respectively. In between is former No. 1, Cypress, which holds a two-point advantage in the voting over Folsom Lake.
Allan Hancock and Los Angeles Pierce round out the top 10, tied for the No. 9 spot with 115 points, while Saddleback, which handed Cypress its first loss last week, comes in at No. 11 with 113 points. Saddleback will face Santiago Canyon next Tuesday.
