The University of Delaware football team had 10 players earned All-CAA honors on Tuesday when the conference announced the 2022 CAA Football All-Conference Teams. Three Blue Hens earned selections to both the first and second teams, while four received nods to the third team. The postseason teams were selected by votes of the league's 12 head coaches who could not vote for their own players.

Johnny Buchanan, LB, First Team

Now a three-time All-CAA selection, Buchanan earns his second selection to the first team. The Brick, N.J. native leads the CAA and currently ranks second in the country with 121 tackles and 11.0 tackles per game. He is also third on the defense with 5.5 TFL while also adding 1.0 sacks, a pass breakup, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. He was also named a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award earlier on Tuesday.

Noah Plack, S, First Team

Plack joins Buchanan as a three-time All-CAA selection after earning second-team honors each of the past two seasons. The Bridgeville, Pa. native has set a career high with 84 tackles on the season to rank second on the Blue Hens. He had a personal-best 17 tackles at Navy to open the season and added 10 takedowns at William & Mary. Plack also has 2.0 TFL, a pass breakup, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery on his stat line.

Kedrick Whitehead, S, First Team

Whitehead earns his fourth All-CAA selection and his third-straight nod to the first team. The Middletown, Del. Native, who currently ranks 22nd all-time at Delaware in tackles (285), is tied for third on the squad this season with 61 tackles to go along with 3.5 TFL, 1.0 sacks and four pass breakups. A force in the takeaway department, Whitehead is tied for the team lead with two interceptions while also forcing a fumble and recovering another.

Nolan Henderson, QB, Second Team

Henderson earns his second All-CAA honor after being named to the first team following 2020-21 Spring season. The Smyrna, Del. native has had a career year for the Blue Hens ranking in the top five in program history in several statistical categories. He has completed 226 passes for 2,934 yards and 28 touchdowns, just one shy of tying the single-season record. Henderson has passed for 200-plus yards in nine games this season and has two five-touchdown performances, which tied a UD single-game record.

Artis Hemmingway, DL, Second Team

An All-CAA Third Team selection last season, Hemmingway earned a bump up to the second team with a solid 2022 campaign. He is fifth on the defense with 51 tackles, which is third among CAA defensive linemen and more than doubled his previous career high. The Hillside, N.J. native is tied for the team lead with 7.5 TFL and has also added 1.5 sacks.

Justis Henley, CB, Second Team

Henley earns the first All-CAA nod of his career after matching up with the opponent's top receivers all season. He finished the regular season with 35 tackles to go along with 3.5 TFL and picked up his first career sack against Monmouth. He also broke up six passes and blocked two field goal attempts at William & Mary.

Fintan Brose, OL, Third Team

Brose had an impressive first season on the offensive line after transitioning from the defensive side of the ball in the Spring. The Irwin, Pa. native has started all 11 games for the Blue Hens in 2022, playing at both right guard and right tackle. He has helped the Delaware offense average 137.9 rushing and 274.5 passing yards per game.

Thyrick Pitts, WR, Third Team

Pitts earns his third-straight all-conference honor as he again has been a dominant force at the wideout position. The Manassas, Va. native is second on the team with 49 catches for 528 yards and he is second in the conference with nine touchdown receptions. Pitts ranks among the top 10 in several receiving categories in Delaware's career record book and needs one more reception to tie the record for consecutive games with a reception (42).

Jourdan Townsend, WR, Third Team

An All-CAA selection as a punt returner last season, Townsend earns his first all-conference honor as a wide receiver. The Farrell, Pa. native leads Delaware with 56 catches for 672 yards while ranking second with five touchdown receptions. He had seven catches for 109 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-21 victory at Rhode Island earlier this season.

Chase McGowan, DL, Third Team

McGowan earns his third-straight All-CAA selection and second-consecutive nod to the third team with another strong campaign on the UD front line. The Stafford, Va. native leads the squad with 4.0 sacks and is tied for the team lead with 7.5 TFL while also registering 26.0 tackles as well as two pass breakups and four quarterback hurries.
