The Lebanon Valley softball team had three student-athletes named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region V Team with the release of the All-Region awards by the association. Jordan Walter, Lexi Smith, and Sam Burns were all first team honorees.
Walter, the MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Year, earned her first All-Region honor. Walter is 19-4 with three saves this season. She was the winning pitcher in Saturday's Regional Championship victory over 15th-ranked Rochester after picking up a save in the first game to force the winner-take-all game seven. Walter has an impressive 1.36 earned-run average in 159.2 innings with 110 strikeouts. She has three shutouts and 16 complete games in 30 appearances. The junior has a .212. opposing batting average against her this season.
Burns, the MAC Commonwealth Player of the Year, also earns her first All-Region honor. The leadoff hitter leads the conference with a .416 batting average. She has 64 hits including 11 doubles and five triples in 45 games this season. Burns knocked in 24 runs and scored 42. She has been a threat on the basepaths as well tying the school record with 29 stolen bases on 31 attempts. In left field, the junior has thrown out two runners and made 49 putouts on 53 chances.
Smith was the third Dutchman to earn First Team honors for the first time. The second baseman is batting .385 in 44 games with 50 hits including one double and one triple. Smith has scored 23 runs and knocked in 14 and is a force on the basepaths with 20 stolen bases on 22 attempts. In the field, she has an impressive .980 fielding percentage with 69 putouts and 78 assists on 150 chances. The sophomore has been involved in three double plays.
